Every Zumba class is a party – so they say – and it’s no cliché, it’s 100% true! An hour of dancing – to classic rhythms like salsa, merengue, reggaeton and cumbia to pop, rock, jive, bollywood and, of course, luscious latino music – will improve your cardio fitness, tone your figure and help you lose weight. Typical calorie burn is 400+ per hour, depending on your fitness. The high impact nature of Zumba is also great for increasing bone density to help stave off osteoporosis. There’s also a ton of medical research proposing that dancing is one of the best ways to keep our mental health in check too… it sharpens our brains and boosts our mood. All this, and you won’t even realise you’re exercising! Zumba is the most super fun way to stay in physical and mental shape and make friends. And it’s suitable for all ages, body types and fitness levels. Come and give it a try!!

FAQs

What should I wear? Work-out clothes, like leggings or trackie bottoms and a loose fitting top are ideal. If you’re a lady with generous amounts of boobage (like me!!!) a sports bra is a must! Please wear a good, supportive pair of trainers too. What do I need to bring? Plenty of water to keep hydrated, and a small towel would be useful too – I’m not gonna lie, we will sweat buckets!! I can’t dance, can I Zumba? Well, you CAN dance, my dear. If your co-ordination and rhythm are a bit rusty, after a couple of classes, you WILL see the difference. You don’t have to execute every move perfectly – I don’t, I forget the steps literally EVERY class… and it’s those unexpected improv moments that make every class totally fun and unique! Am I fit enough to participate? Unless you have been given ‘doctor’s orders’ not to participate in dance-based exercise, or have an underlying medical issue (let’s chat, you may still be able to dance), the answer is YES! The great thing about Zumba is you can go at your own pace. You don’t need to be a skinny minnie gym bunny (I certainly ain’t one of those!) I will give low and high impact options where necessary, and you choose what suits your fitness level and body type. You can sit out a song if you need to catch your breath. In no time, you’ll be dancing for the whole hour without even thinking about it! Do I need to fill in paperwork? Yes, I ask all new participants to fill out a PAR-Q, which tells me about your general health, and any old/existing injuries I may need to know about (all data is kept strictly confidential and held in accordance with GDPR regs) so that we can be sure everyone stays safe and healthy. Is there an age limit? There’s no upper age limit (I have a couple of lovely ladies well into their 70s that dance with me), however, for insurance purposes, you need to be 16 or over to join the class. I have just had a baby, can I come and Zumba with you? Check with your doctor that they are happy for you to resume exercise. I recommend waiting 6-8 weeks after baby before coming to class. If you’ve had a C-Section this will be longer – it will depend on your recovery time. Can I Zumba while pregnant? Yes. Please tell me as soon as you know – I will give you adapted moves (i.e. no jumping, core twisting, etc.), but gentle movement is great for you and your baby dancer! I am a MAN, can I Zumba? Wow, kudos, for getting this far, fella! Yes, of course you can Zumba! If you’ve a question that isn’t answered here, drop me an email or a DM, and I will get back to you!
